Ohio State Requirements for STNAs
In Ohio, nurse aides are called State Tested Nurse Assistants, or STNA. In order to become an STNA, a candidate must pass the Nurse Aide Training Competency Evaluation Program (NATCEP). The state of Ohio requires 75 hours of training. Of this, 59 hours are classroom time. At least 16 hours must be completed under the supervision of resident care in a long-term care facility. Once the NATCEP is completed, candidates may register for the state exam. Upon passing the state exam, candidates may be eligible to enroll in the Ohio Nurse Aide Registry.
Ohio STNA Exam Details
The Ohio STNA Testing and Certification is administered by D & S Diversified Technologies. There are 79 questions on the written exam that must be completed within 90 minutes. The skills test consists of the proper demonstration of hand washing and then four other additional skills that will be randomly selected.
