Arkansas State Requirements for CNAs

It is required that those seeking to become a CNA in Arkansas completed a CNA program and obtain a passing score on the state-administered CNA exam. In Arkansas, a minimum of 90 hours of CNA classes must be completed at an accredited program for new candidates. There are other options for nursing assistants who completed CNA programs out of state, as well as those that have studied student nursing programs. Additionally, those that have completed home health aide programs may test out without CNA classes. A variety of institutions offer accredited classes, including career programs at high schools, community colleges, hospitals, nursing homes and also the American Red Cross

Arkansas CNA Exam Details

In Arkansas, a candidate must pass the Nursing Assistant Competency Exam (NACE), which is controlled by Prometric. The exam has two sections, a knowledge section, and a practical skills section. The knowledge section can be taken in either audio or written formats. Users may retake the exam up to three times in order to pass it. Upon passing the Arkansas CNA exam, you are added to the Arkansas Nurse Aide Registry. Nurse aide certificates must be renewed every two years in even-numbered years regardless of when the certificate was issued.
