Colorado State Requirements for CNAs
There are many opportunities for CNA training in the state of Colorado. Additionally, many of the classes and training options are free, and some offer job offers at the successful conclusion of the training. CNA classes and training is available at long-term health care facilities, nursing homes, and community colleges. Candidates must complete a minimum of 75 hours of training. These 75 hours are broken up into 59 hours of classroom training, and then 16 hours of on-site clinical training. Once this training is completed, candidates may apply with Pearson Vue to register for the CNA exam.
For those that were formerly RNs, certified in another state, were a nurse who has trained outside of the U.S., is seeking to be reinstated, or is currently a practicing RN, there are different eligibility requirements that may not require the 75 hours of training at a state-approved program. These can be found in the Colorado Pearson Vue handbook.
Colorado CNA Exam Details
In the state of Colorado, the exam is the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program exam. It consists of two sections, a written exam and a clinical skills exam. There are five skills assigned in the clinical skills section, test takers must complete these skills within 25 minutes. The written exam is 70 questions that must be completed in 90 minutes. Content covered in the written exam include the role of the nurse aid, communication, client rights, psychosocial care skills, and physical care skills.
How Much Does the Colorado CNA Exam Cost?
The cost of the exam is $123 for both the written and skills section, with the written only cost at $45 and the skills only cost at $78. There is also an oral option, for the same cost.
