Who Administers the CNA Exam in Kentucky?

The Kentucky Community and Technical College System is the administrator for the CNA certification exam. You can take a free CNA practice test on this site to help prepare yourself for the exam. The following are all of our CNA sample tests that are available for free.

How Do I Become an SRNA in Kentucky?

In Kentucky, the requirements state that SRNAs must undergo at least 75 hours of state-accredited nurse aide instructional classes on the way to earning their certification. This must include a minimum of 59 hours of classroom work combined with 16 hours of supervised practical learning.

Upon completion of the course, candidates must pass the state’s certified nurse aide exam. Once the Kentucky state nurse aide test has been passed, candidates will apply to be listed with the Kentucky Nurse Aide Registry as a licensed SRNA. The registry is regulated by the Kentucky Board of Nursing.

To maintain licensure, SRNAs must renew their license with the state board every two years.

Kentucky SRNA Exam Details

The Kentucky nurse aide test consists of a 75-question written section and a clinical test that covers 5 selected tasks. Topics that will be tested include:

  • Assisting resident in bladder restraining
  • Assisting resident with standing/walking
  • Practicing good personal hygiene
  • Adjust bed and side rails
  • Check the food tray against the patient’s diet list
  • Assist with partial bath
  • Turn and position the resident in bed

You can take the exam up to three times, though you’ll have to re-register and pay a fee to retake whichever portion of the exam you need to retake. The fee for re-testing is $15 for the written exam and $60 for the skills exam. In total, you should plan to spend about 5 hours completing your exam. 

You will receive your results by mail 4 weeks after completing the test.

How Much Does the Kentucky Nurse Aide Exam Cost?

The total cost of the Kentucky Nurse Aide Exam is $115. The written portion of the test costs $40 and the skills test costs $75.
