Washington State Requirements for CNAs
In Washington, CNA candidates must complete a minimum of 85 hours of classes in a state-approved CNA program. There is a combination of both classroom and learning in a clinical structure. In Washington State, 7 of the 85 hours must consist of an HIV/AIDS classes.
Candidates may apply for the exam if they are Nursing Candidates in a PN or RN program, or are enrolled within the state of Washington, have an endorsement in another state’s CNA or LNA Registry, is a military nursing assistant, is a candidate who is an Out of State Trained Nurse, is a candidate who has a nursing assistant certification lapsed, or is a home care or medical assistant aide who has been approved through the state’s bridge program.
Washington CNA Exam Details
The Written portion of the exam is 70 multiple-choice questions. Candidates have 2 hours to complete these 70 questions. The Skills Evaluation mimics a real working environment. Candidates must demonstrate skills with actor clients. 5 randomly selected Nursing Assistant skills will be tested, with hand washing always being one of the skills tested. A candidate volunteer will be present for the test taker to use as an example patient.
