Reinstatement of Lapsed Certificate

There are two routes that a CNA who has not worked in a 24-month period can take in order to obtain recertification:

  1. take a refresher course
  2. go through a task checklist with a registered nurse at a hospital or long-term care facility or in a school laboratory setting, BUT not through a home health agency.

Out-of-state CNA Certification Transfer

Out-of-state certified nurse aides must take and pass the Kansas Nurse Aide Test before their certification can be transferred from their home state to Kansas registry. However, they do not need to enroll in and complete a training program. Out-of-state CNAs can only challenge the KS Nurse Aide Test once.
