New York CNA License Lookup & Verification

If you are a Certified Nursing Assistant in the state of New York, you may want to know how to lookup and verify your license. The New York Nursing Aide Registry, run by Prometric, regulates the certification of nursing assistants in the state.

How to verify a New York CNA license number

New York CNA licenses can be verified online or by calling the New York Nursing Aide Registry.

If you wish to verify a license online, this can be done on the Prometric New York State Nurse Aide Registry Nurse Aide Search page. Search either by certificate ID (the CNA license number) or search by name and date of birth if available.

The results will display details about the individual’s license status, the original certification date, the expiration date, and any abuse findings or convictions with the individual.

If you are having trouble finding information using the online search, you can call the New York Nursing Aide Registry’s CNA license verification line at (800) 918-8818.

How to lookup a New York CNA license number

CNA license numbers can be accessed individually on the New York State Nurse Aide Registry website. Instead of searching by “certificate #” select “Name”. Enter the first and last name, and select any displayed listings. The certification number will be displayed along with other important details such as the certification status, original certification date, and certification route.

If you are still having issues finding your CNA license number and need it for employment, license renewal, a state transfer, or any other purpose, there are a few steps you can try:

  • Call the New York State Nurse Aide Registry for assistance at 800-918-8818
  • Request a CNA certificate replacement (a fee is likely required)
  • Search for old letters or emails from the New York State Board of Nursing that may contain your license number
  • Contact your CNA program provider to see if they have your CNA license number on record
