About TEAS 6 Math Questions

The current version of the ATI TEAS test is the TEAS 6, which is an updated version of TEAS 5. Many of the changes to the sixth version of the test are focused on being more aligned to today’s nursing and medical needs.

Despite pursuing a degree in a field of medicine, nursing requires a solid understanding of mathematics on a daily basis. Whether it is reviewing charts and patient data, administering medication, observing and monitoring the condition of a patient, or putting together a report, it is important for nurses to quickly and accurately solve basic math problems on the go.

The math section of the TEAS consists of 36 questions, four of which do not count towards your final score but are used for research purposes – unfortunately, you will not know which four questions those will be. The math section has a time limit of 54 minutes – so you have exactly one and a half minutes (90 seconds) to answer each question.

Questions on the test will contain math subjects relating to the following

  • Basic algebra
  • Ratios
  • Proportions and percentages
  • Reading and analyzing graphical data
  • Translating units of measurement
  • Basic geometry

The CNA schools displayed in this section offer tuition-based programs.

Questions will come in the format of word problems as well as number problems. To view some examples of test questions, take the practice test above.
